Manual Door Locks

Use the manual door lock plunger to lock the doors frominside the vehicle. If the plunger is down when the dooris closed, the door will lock. Make sure the keys are notinside the vehicle before closing the door.

WARNING:

• For personal security and safety in the event of anaccident, lock the vehicle doors as you drive aswell as when you park and leave the vehicle.

• When leaving the vehicle, always remove the keyfrom the ignition lock, and lock your vehicle. Donot leave children unattended in the vehicle, orwith access to an unlocked vehicle. Unsuperviseduse of vehicle equipment may cause severe personalinjuries and death.

• Never leave children alone in a vehicle. Leavingchildren in a vehicle unattended is dangerous for anumber of reasons. A child or others could beseriously or fatally injured. Don’t leave the keys inthe ignition. A child could operate power windows,other controls, or move the vehicle.

CAUTION:

An unlocked vehicle is an invitation to thieves.

Always remove the key from the ignition and lock allof the doors when leaving the vehicle unattended.

Power Door Locks

Adoor lock switch is located on the driver and passengerdoor panel. Press this switch to lock or unlock the doors.

NOTE: To prevent you from locking your key in thevehicle, the power door LOCK switch will not operatewhen the key is in the ignition and the driver door isopen. A chime will sound as a reminder to remove thekey.

Auto Door Locks — If Equipped

When enabled, your door locks will lock automaticallywhen the vehicle’s speed exceeds 15 mph (24 km/h). TheAutomatic Door Locks feature can be enabled or disabledby your authorized dealer. See your authorized dealer forprogramming.

Auto Unlock On Exit

The doors will unlock automatically on vehicles withpower door locks if:

1. The Automatic Unlock Doors On Exit feature is enabled.

2. The transmission shift lever was in gear and thevehicle speed returned to 0 mph (0 km/h).

3. The transmission shift lever is in NEUTRAL or PARK.

4. The driver door is opened.

5. The doors were not previously unlocked, and6. The vehicle speed is 0 mph (0 km/h).

Auto Unlock On Exit Programming

The Automatic Unlock Doors On Exit feature can beenabled or disabled as follows:

• For vehicles equipped with the Electronic VehicleInformation Center (EVIC), refer to “Electronic VehicleInformation Center (EVIC)/Personal Settings (Customer-Programmable Features)” in “UnderstandingYour Instrument Panel” for further information.

• For vehicles not equipped with the EVIC, performingthe following procedure:

1. Close all doors and place the key in the ignition.

2. Within 15 seconds, cycle the ignition switch betweenLOCK and ON and then back to LOCK four times endingup in the LOCK position. (do not start the engine)3. Within 30 seconds, press the power door UNLOCKswitch to unlock the doors.

4. Repeat these steps if you want to return this feature toits previous setting.

NOTE: Use the Automatic Unlock Doors On Exit featurein accordance with local laws.

Child Protection Door Lock System (Rear Doors)

The Child Protection Door Locks (Rear Doors) are locatedinside the rear edge of the door. Insert the tip of theignition key or similar flat-bladed object into the lock androtate approximately one–quarter turn to the LOCK orUNLOCK position (as indicated by the stamped icons).

WARNING:

Avoid trapping anyone in a vehicle in a collision.

Remember that the rear doors can only be openedfrom the outside when the Child Protection DoorLocks are engaged.
